What Does "Solar for All" Mean to PosiGen’s Founder, Tom Neyhart?
At PosiGen, "Solar for All" isn’t just a catchy tagline—it’s a mission that defines everything we do. For our Founder and Executive Chairman, Tom Neyhart, it represents a deep commitment to uplifting communities that have long been left out of the solar revolution. It’s about breaking down barriers and providing families—regardless of income or credit score—the opportunity to enjoy more energy independence and potentially save money.
We asked Tom to explore what "Solar for All" means to him and to reflect on PosiGen’s journey in making clean energy accessible to everyone. His perspective sheds light on how this vision came to life and the impact it continues to have.
Bridging the Gap in Solar Access
“For me, ‘Solar for All’ means helping the families that need it the most,” Tom shared. “Before PosiGen, working-class families, underserved communities, and communities of color were unable to participate in the solar revolution.”
Tom explained that the barriers to entry were staggering. When PosiGen was founded, some families needed a FICO score as high as 750 and a household income over $100,000 to qualify for a solar lease, loan, or power purchase agreement (PPA). This financial hurdle excluded more than half of American families from accessing solar energy—leaving them with limited opportunities to reduce their energy footprint and save money on their electricity bills.
"Helping those families achieve energy independence and significant savings through the PosiGen Solar & Energy Efficiency solution has been one of Lisa and I’s greatest accomplishments. The fact that we have saved the families we serve over $65 million in net savings is a testament to the great team that has built PosiGen into what it is today."

Tom knew that something had to change. “Helping those families achieve energy independence and significant savings through the PosiGen Solar & Energy Efficiency solution has been one of Lisa and I’s greatest accomplishments," said Tom.
Building a Mission-Driven Company
From the very beginning, Tom and his wife, Lisa Neyhart, were determined to do things differently. They envisioned a company that wouldn’t just cater to affluent households but would instead serve communities that were often overlooked or deemed “too risky” by traditional solar providers.
PosiGen was founded on the belief that solar savings should be available to everyone. Tom and Lisa wanted to ensure that families in underserved communities could experience the financial relief and peace of mind that come with lower energy bills.
This mission-driven approach is why PosiGen includes energy efficiency upgrades with every solar installation. It’s not just about generating clean energy—it’s about making homes more efficient so families can save even more. By combining solar power with energy efficiency, PosiGen has helped thousands of families achieve real, measurable savings.
A Legacy of Savings and Impact
The impact of PosiGen’s work speaks for itself. To date, the families served by PosiGen have collectively saved over $65 million1 in net energy costs. This incredible milestone is a testament to the power of the company’s unique approach and the dedicated team behind it.
For Tom, the idea of "Solar for All" goes beyond financial savings. It’s about equity and inclusion—making sure everyone has a seat at the table in the transition to clean energy. “‘Solar for All’ means everyone should be in the solar savings tent,” he said.
Looking Ahead
As PosiGen continues to grow, the mission of "Solar for All" remains at the heart of its work. Tom and the entire PosiGen team are committed to expanding access to solar and energy efficiency solutions, reaching even more families in need.
At PosiGen, we believe that clean energy is a right, not a privilege. Thanks to our founder Tom Neyhart and the dedicated team that shares his vision, we’re making that belief a reality—one family at a time.
